Clark's Historical Grant Society will hold its April meeting at and new location and time.
The meeting will be held on Monday, April 21 at 6:30pm at the First Baptist Church at 930 Market Street in Charlestown. Enter at the “office” entrance from the street.
April's program will be by Terry Chambers, author and storyteller, who portrays Delia A. Webster.
In a time when women were expected to be pious, submissive, and domestic, Delia fought for the rights and freedom of enslaved persons in the antebellum South. She was the first white woman to be jailed in Kentucky in 1844 for her part in assisting slaves to escape across the Ohio River. Chambers brings Webster to life in her one-person “in character” entertaining and educational performance.
This is a free event, and refreshments will be served.
