A proposal will be brought before the Scott County Council to address the need for a new large kitchen kettle for the jail. A quote from Indiana Technical Services lists the cost of the replacement at $20,139.72.

The current kettle, which plays a central role in cooking meals for inmates, has a malfunctioning filtration system that needs replaced. County Commissioner President Mike Jones explained the urgency of the matter by saying, “we don't want to risk it failing and injuring someone.”

Vice President Rick Jullian discussed preserving the old kettle by refurbishing and using as a backup in the future. A motion was made and unanimously approved to store the old kettle once the new one is installed and to send the replacement request to the County Council for consideration.
