Senior Judge Richard G. Striegel has sentenced Deborah Mack to 25 years in prison. This follows her conviction on one count of Level 2 Felony Dealing in Methamphetamine and three counts of Level 5 Felony Neglect of a Dependent. Mack will serve 22 years executed in the Indiana Department of Correction with three years of probation.
On February 23 of 2021, officers were granted a search warrant to the residence in order to search for evidence of methamphetamine use and dealing. Officers identified Deborah Mack inside the home, as well as Raymond Collins in an outbuilding behind the home. Mack admitted to dealing methamphetamine, playing part in a large-scale criminal enterprise.
The sentencing follows an extensive criminal investigation that resulted in the largest methamphetamine seizure in Washington County history. Authorities discovered 17.9 pounds of methamphetamine at Mack’s residence during the execution of a search warrant. Mack admitted to purchasing 24 or more pounds at a time from cartel sources and distributing the drugs throughout Washington County and surrounding areas in southern Indiana.
In addition to drug charges, Mack pleaded guilty to neglecting her three minor grandchildren, who were living in her home at the time of her arrest.
"This case sends a clear message: drug dealers are not welcome in our community," said Prosecutor Tara Coats Hunt. "The sheer volume of methamphetamine in this case posed an enormous threat to public safety. Thanks to the diligent work of law enforcement, we’ve held a major trafficker accountable and taken dangerous drugs off our streets."
The Washington County Prosecutor’s Office extends its gratitude to the Indiana State Police, local law enforcement agencies, and all officers involved in the investigation and litigation of this case.
