The 18th Annual Ride for a Cure Inspired by Wendy Nasby was held Saturday, September 21, raising a total of $91,000. With that total, three more recipients were able to be added, for a total of eight cancer patients receiving $11,375 each.

The ride began at Noon from Mid-America Science Park and when the participants returned, a dinner was enjoyed. On the House entertained the crowd for the afternoon and evening. There was also an auction of donated items.

Gregg Kiefer was the winner of the 2009 Softail Deluxe Harley Davidson, donated by Wheels for Waylen. Wheels for Waylen was started by Kevin and Sandy Vernon, whose grandson, Waylen Boyle, passed away from NUT Midline Carcinoma cancer on January 1, 2021, just one day before his 11th birthday. Kiefer then donated the bike back to the Ride where it was auctioned at $6700.

Special thanks to everyone that was involved in making Ride for a Cure a success. For more information about Ride for a Cure Inspired by Wendy Nasby, see an August edition of The Scott County Herald, titled: “Ride for a Cure in its 18th year of helping cancer patients.”
