Scott County Family YMCA announces major childcare facility renovation

The Scott County Family YMCA has unveiled ambitious plans to construct a state-of-the-art childcare facility, transforming an abandoned pool area into a modern and functional space. The project will repurpose 10,000 square feet within the current YMCA structure, creating a dedicated childcare center for youth below grade school age.

The renovation will also feature a 7,500-square-foot playground, an expanded outdoor parking area, and additional multipurpose and meeting spaces. The facility is expected to address the growing need for high-quality childcare in the community while fostering future expansion opportunities.

“This project directly meets the needs of our community and positions the Y for continued growth,” said Donald Connor, CEO of the Scott County Family YMCA. “With additional funding, we can further expand our services and eliminate space restrictions that currently limit our ability to serve families in Scott County.”

The renovation is set for completion by January 1, 2027, marking a significant milestone in the YMCA's ongoing commitment to providing essential services for families in the region.
