

Beatrice Rainbolt Dean, 98, of Scottsburg, formerly of Corydon and Charlestown, Indiana. passed away March 6, 2025.
She was born in Corydon to the late Maurice and Etna Barley Rainbolt on November 30, 1926. She graduated from Corydon High School, class of 1944. She married in Corydon and had five sons. She moved to Charlestown in 1957, where she made her home for the next 40 years. She was a clerk at the Tobias (B&T) Drug store. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Holt and Wilma Rainbolt; and her brothers, Edmond and Robert Rainbolt. Surviving to cherish her memories are her sons, Robin (Sandy) Dean of Pendleton, KY, Terry Dean of Scottsburg, Alan Dean of Indianapolis, Tim (Martha) Dean of Florida, and Ricky (Melissa) Dean of Indianapolis; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty two great-grandchildren.
She passed away at Hampton Oaks Health Campus under the care of the very precious and loving staff.

Bertha M. Hall-Satterly, 97, of Scottsburg passed away, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.
She was born December 18, 1927 in Letcher County, Kentucky to William Riley and Polly Ann Dixon Back. She was a graduate of Stuart Robinson High School in Blackey, Kentucky. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gideons International and enjoyed reading.
Bertha is preceded in death by two husbands, Steve Hall on May 28, 1980 and James T. "Sy" Satterly on January 23, 2014, three brothers, Custer, Vyron and Emery Back, six sisters, Vivian Branson, Carrie Roberts, Gracie Caudill, Bertie Miller, Jessie Hampton and Anne Ruth Elam.
Surviving to cherish her memories are her children, Stephane (Jeff) Garner of Town Creek, Alabama, Stephen (Laurie Hearn) Hall of Madison, Indiana, David "Tobe" (Elvia) Hall of Santa Claus, Indiana, and Jeffery (Sandy) Hall of Austin, her step-children, Rebecca "Becky" (Hershel) Simpson of Scottsburg, Trudy (Jeff) Hoagland of Scottsburg, Sheila (Mike) Whelan of Douglasville, GA, and Pastor Gary (Wilma) Satterly of Scottsburg. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was on Thursday, March 13, 2025 and one hour prior to the service on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Rev. Dr. Stephen Hall and Pastor Gary Satterly will officiate the service.

Nettie Johnson Scott passed away on February 27, 2025 at Lake Pointe Village, Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on July 8, 1941 in Perry County, KY to Floyd Johnson and Mary White Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Ruthie Scott, Jeanette Doerksen, Claude Scott, Suzie Lightfoot, and Frankie Scott: brothers Lonnie Johnson and Fred Johnson; and sisters Alice Bell and Pam Johnson.
She was preceded in death by by her husband, Clyde Scott and her brothers Charles, Frank, Johnny, and Joe Johnson, who have now welcomed her with open arms.
She worked on the Indian reservation in Camp Verde, Arizona for over twenty years and loved the Indian people.
The family honored Nettie's life with a direct cremation.

Ronald "Ron" Lealand Hobbs, 48, a beacon of joy and laughter, passed away at his residence on February 13, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that echoed through the rolling roads and open highways that he so passionately embraced. Born on October 18, 1976, in the charming town of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ron’s journey was marked by laughter, kindness, and a zest for life that touched everyone around him.
Ron was a proud 1995 graduate of Scottsburg High School, where his infectious spirit and charisma endeared him to his classmates and teachers alike. It was here that he began his love affair with the open road, embarking on a fulfilling career as a truck driver. To Ron, each mile was an adventure, a chance to explore the breathtaking sights and experiences that our vast country has to offer. He became a master navigator, guiding his big rig through the landscapes that he cherished, while also reflecting the warmth and friendliness of the towns he visited.
Known for his delightful sense of humor, Ron was a veritable social butterfly, often seen spreading cheer among friends and family with his funny quips and sarcastic remarks. He possessed a heart of gold, welcoming everyone with open arms, spreading happiness wherever he went. His genuine love for people was palpable, making every gathering a joyful occasion. Ron’s contagious laughter could lift the spirits of the weary, and his friendships were a testament to the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.
Ron had a multitude of interests that enriched his life. He was an ardent music lover, finding solace and joy in melodies from all genres. Video games brought him excitement and a thrill of competition, often shared with family and friends. He shared a unique bond with his father, racing monster trucks—a memory that always brought a smile to his face. A passionate motorcycle enthusiast, Ron would often feel the rush of the wind as he rode, embodying the freedom he so dearly cherished.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 23 years, Martina Hensley Hobbs, a partner who stood by him through every twist and turn of life. Their love is a shining example of devotion and companionship. He is also survived by his father Ronald Hobbs and mother Mary Kollmeyer Hobbs, who nurtured him with love and support throughout his life. His cherished sisters, Jenny Shawber of Kokomo, Indiana, and Marron Potter and her husband Darrell of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, along with several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will hold his memory close, remembering the warmth and light he brought into their lives.
Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Goodrich, whose spirit will forever be intertwined with his in the hearts of those who loved them both. His maternal grandparents, Rev. Harold and Ida Kollmeyer, and paternal grandparents, Tarrence and Anna Hobbs, now watch over him as he joyfully reunites with them.
Funeral was held at Christensen - Hoagland Family Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana on Thursday, March 6, 2025. He will be laid to rest at Hobbs/Stark Cemetery.
Though Ron's time on this earth has come to a close, his spirit will continue to drive on through our collective memories, just as he drove through the open roads, spreading joy and camaraderie. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Allen "Al" Standford Dew, 82, of Hanover, Indiana entered this life on October 5, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was the loving son of the late Roderick and Margaret Henrietta Browne Dew. He was a graduate of Waggener High School in Louisville, Kentucky, and went on to graduate from Barber School, as well as attend Louisville Bible College. He married Patricia Lynn Leep on May 19, 1972 at the Kent Christian Church in Kent, Indiana, and this prompted his move to Jefferson County. He worked as a watchman for Hanover Nursing Center and as a security guard for Pinkerton. He also worked for Hanover College as a security guard for 32 years. In his free time, Al enjoyed reading his Bible, feeding the birds, fishing, and watching baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Molly. He was a member of Paynesville Christian Church near Hanover, Indiana. Allen died on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 5:34 pm at Aperion Health in Hanover, Indiana.

James (Jim) Robert Kendall, 88, of Covington, Georgia passed away on February 21, 2025 in Griffin, GA. He was born on June 26, 1936 in Scott County, Indiana to Delbert and Marjorie “Watterson” Kendall. He graduated from the Scottsburg High School in Scottsburg, Indiana in 1954, he joined the Coast Guard the same year and served four years with an honorable discharge in 1958.
Jim was an entrepreneur and businessman throughout his working career in the plumbing business, hardware store business, banking industry and residential construction business. He was a Mason and very active in the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia “Williams “ Kendall, son Michael Kendall, brothers Richard, Howard and David Kendall. One niece and two nephews.
Jim was survived by a long-time friend Pam Taylor of Cordele, GA, daughter-in-law Teena Kendall of Stockbridge, GA and grandsons Rob Kendall and Justin Kendall, both in Georgia, one sister Mary Ellen (Jim) Funk and a sister-in-law Wilma Kendall all of Scottsburg and several nieces and nephews in Indiana. Direct cremation was chosen with no service and cremains are with family.
