During a recent meeting, Scott County School District 2 (SCSD2) received an in-depth overview of the district's grant process and highlighted several grants aimed at enhancing student learning and support programs. The district manages a variety of federal, state, and private grants, including Title I-IV funds, which are used to improve early literacy and numeracy, professional development, and student experience.
According to Kristin Nass, the district received $842,000 in Title I-IV funding, with the majority allocated to Title I for student performance and improvement through tutoring and literacy programs. Title II funds are dedicated to professional development for teachers, while Title IV focuses on student enrichment, including arts, STEM, and extracurricular activities such as robotics.
The district also secured specialized grants, including $37,000 High Ability Grant, a $46,000 Career Coaching Grant, and a $20,000 Robotics Competition Matching Grant. These grants support initiatives like career coaching, robotics programs, and training for special education aides.
SCSD2 is committed to managing grants carefully to maximize their impact on students and staff while continuing to seek new funding opportunities that align with district goals. Despite the complexity of managing multiple funding sources, the district remains focused on supporting student achievement, as evidenced by recent test score improvements.
