The Alcohol Beverage Board of Scott County held a public meeting on Wednesday, August 28 at noon, where they considered two applications. First on the agenda was Main Package Store Inc. in Austin request to renew their Beer, Wine, & Liquor license. Commission member Chris Wakeman made a motion to approve the renewal with ____McClellan seconding. The board voted 3-0 in favor of the renewal.

Next up was a new license request for a permit to serve alcohol at Hampton Inn & Suites in Scottsburg. The general manager stated the alcohol would be kept in a locked cabinet behind the front desk and guests would need to show identification prior to being served. The hotel is owned by Hilton and offering alcohol is a requirement, if able to receive a permit. All front-desk personnel will be licensed to serve liquor and receive training. Wakeman made a motion to approve the request, with McClellan seconding the motion. The request passed 3-0. The next meeting is set for September 23, 2024, at noon in Room 128 of the Scottsburg Courthouse.
