Scott County is set to honor its veterans with a special event on Saturday, March 29, featuring a Salute to Vietnam Veterans in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Scott County Courthouse Square, with a special tribute to Vietnam veterans at 1 p.m.

Veterans and their families will enjoy free food provided by Barbecue Paradise, along with a variety of family-friendly activities, including bounce houses, bubbles, and face painting. Several organizations will also be on-site offering valuable resources, including VA healthcare eligibility enrollment and volunteer services.

In a show of appreciation, many local businesses have stepped up to donate prizes and services, ranging from free oil changes and tire rotations to special giveaways including a Kendall Fire.

“This is a great way for our community to come together and show our appreciation for those who have served,” said event organizer Denise Vaughn. “It’s not just about recognizing Vietnam veterans but celebrating all of our veterans and their families.”

The event is free and open to the public, with all veterans encouraged to attend.
