Steve grew up in Indianapolis and Lawrence, Indiana. When he was little, his dad took him to the zoo every month and the children’s museum, state fair, and drive-in. When his mom remarried, her new husband was in the army, and they moved to military bases in Kentucky and Virginia. Steve had lots of friends everywhere they moved to. Growing up, he worked at 500 Racetrack, 7 Up Bottling Company, a car wash, moved furniture, worked in home improvement, sold ice cream, and then delivered newspapers, and real estate books. He even delivered hotel coupon guides in Tuscon and Phoenix, Arizona! Steve fished in a reservoir in a boat with his friend. He has delivered newspapers for 30 years. He served as a manager of a newspaper company in Indianapolis for 5 years. He has studied wild edible plants for 30 years in books, videos, teachers, arboretums, and botanical gardens. Steve started going to church when he was 16 years old.
